Hello
Our family would love to save and rescue a Bassett Hound but we feel we frequently hit roadblocks with the rescues in our area (we live in Northwest Indiana). I have called the Ohio Bassett rescue x 2 and never received a call back. The Illinois Bassett rescue will not adopt to a family with children under the age of 6. The Wisconsin Bassett rescue in "out of our area." We are getting discouraged and we just know that there is a Bassett out there for us. We are experienced pet owners who provide a loving home until their last days. All of our pets have been from rescues or shelters over the years. Our children are well educated on pets and how to respectfully treat them. We have been "babysitters" for a family friend who has a Bassett and we have fallen head over heels for her over the last 2 years. We have researched the breed over the last year and feel confident that it would be a great addition to our family. We recently had to have our 16 year old shepard mix put to sleep and after careful consideration and discussion our family has decided that we would love to adopt a Bassett into our family. We have 3 children ages 8,5, and 3 who all love animals and are very loving and gentle with our pets. We also have a 4 y/o German Shorthair Pointer (also from a rescue) who is wonderful and would love a companion as his best friend of 4 years is no longer here to pal around with. We are a wonderful family who would love to adopt another "fur child" for the family. If ANYONE can provide us with some guidance in this area we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
